Tater Trot Tracker: Timing Each and Every Home Run Trot

Four home runs hit last night, two each by the Giants and Rangers, as the Series shifted to Texas and the Rangers fought their way back into the Series. Now down only two games to one, the Rangers hope Tommy Hunter can help them tie it up against the Giants' Madison Bumgarner.

Maybe it's just me, but I get the feeling we'll see a few more home runs tonight...

And we're back, after a necessary (but sad nonetheless) day off. The Series has shifted to the hitter-friendly Ballpark in Arlington. And with Jonathan Sanchez on the hill, that only increases the likelihood of home runs. Let's see if that happens.

Sadly, we only had the one home run. We'll see if the cold air tonight helps or hurts that. I'm looking forward to another exciting game, though. I do love World Series baseball.

So, uh, who say last night's offensive outburst coming? If you raised your hand, you're a liar.

Sadly, we only had the one home run. We'll see if the cold air tonight helps or hurts that. I'm looking forward to another exciting game, though. I do love World Series baseball.

It's been way too long since we had a baseball game, but that's going to end in about 30 minutes time. I can't wait. This promises to be a fun World Series, and the Tim Lincecum vs. Cliff Lee matchup tonight just sweetens the pot.

I trust you all saw my Giants and Rangers World Series preview posts? If you were disappointed that there was no real discussion about the merits of each team, then feel free to head on over to the podcast from last night where Bill and the Common Man from Platoon Advantage and I talked World Series baseball with Josh from Baseball Times in Arlington and Chris from Bay City Ball. It was a great podcast, with much of the credit going to the knowledge and humor Josh & Chris brought to the table. You should definitely give it a listen (you can also subscribe on iTunes from that link).

For the record, my prediction has the Giants winning in six. I know the Rangers have the superior offense and an almost-as-good staff, but it doesn't feel like that's enough. Both teams are pretty equally matched overall, so picking a winner comes down you're best feeling, etc. The Giants have faced some pretty good teams to get here, always playing over their heads. I just get the feeling that that will continue,

The Yankees are looking to stay alive against the upstart Rangers while the Giants look to leap ahead of the favored Phillies to a 3-1 lead. October baseball is still the best.

I apologize for not getting up a Tater Trot Tracker post for last night's game (and for missing this afternoon's game). If you were following along on Twitter, you would've seen that Josh Hamilton's first inning home run clocked in at 21.03 seconds. Thankfully, there were no home runs in the Giants/Phillies game earlier today.

I suspect we'll have little problem with that this evening, though, in Yankee Stadium. With a match-up of A.J. Burnett and Tommy Hunter, there's a pretty good chance of a high-scoring game.

Two games yesterday, two wins from teams that we're supposed to win. That's the kind of thing we're looking for every October.

The Giants and Phillies play Game 2 tonight and, if last night is any indication, we can probably expect three home runs from Travis Ishikawa or something. Should be fun.
