Some Friday Video Fun E-mail
Written by Larry Granillo

In lieu of some actual content today (catching up on old seasons of Mad Men really cuts into blogging time), I thought I'd share one of my favorite video clips. If anyone was using the forums, you'd recognize my signature quote from the clip below. I can't say if this'll become a regular Friday thing. It is fun, and who doesn't like fun on a Friday, so I might try to keep doing it. I'm not a big fan of seeing a bunch of embedded videos load on a web page, though, so I'll have to watch that.

We'll see. In the meantime, enjoy...

Ha-that was pretty awesome. I never liked Futurama much when it was on, but I've grown attached to the late-night reruns on Comedy Central. Glad they're bringing it back.

Crap I love Mad Men. This week's episode was one of the best things ever.

Oh, I'm a big Futurama fan. Have all the dvds, and have watched every episode many, many times. It was such a good show. I didn't like it nearly as much when it first aired, though. Fox really screwed it over by moving it's air-times almost every week. it was hard to get familiar with it, I think.

I certainly enjoy Mad Men. Didn't start watching it until recently, though, so I've seen Season 1 and the Season 3 episodes aired so far. Almost done watching Season 2 now. I'd kind of like Season 3 to get rolling a little more.

I really like the part after this clip, where Bender is talking about the robot leagues and one of its stars, Wireless Joe Jackson.

Oh, I know. I was disappointed that it ended right there, too. But what're you gonna do, right?

There is this, though:
Leela: Alright! Yes! Miller's on a pace to hit 70 blerns!

Farnsworth: He's good, alright. But he's no Clem Johnson. And Johnson played back in the days before steroid injections were mandatory.

Bender: Clem Johnson? That skin bag wouldn't have lasted one pitch in the old Robot Leagues! Now Wireless Joe Jackson, there was a blern-hitting machine!

Leela: Exactly! He was a machine designed to hit blerns! I mean, come on, Wireless Joe was nothing but a programmable bat on wheels.

Bender: Oh, and I suppose Pitchomat 5000 was just a modified howitzer?

Leela: Yep.

About Me

What's with the name?
"Wezen" is the name of a star in the constellation Canis Major ("The Great Dog"). It's the star that marks the, ahem, point where the dog's tail meets its hindlegs. It's a name that I've always liked the sound of and so I used it around the internet.

When I started this blog, I didn't expect to put a lot of time into it, so I just gave it the first name I could think of. Now I like it, no matter how strange it may sound, and I just love how the new banner and background make use of it.

What's the site about?
There is no real, overriding philosophy guiding the posts here at Wezen-Ball.com. Instead, it's just a place for me to write about what I find interesting in the baseball world. Sometimes that means it'll be original statistical research that I've been working on or some other opinions that I might have. Usually, though, I'll be writing about how a certain player, team, or event from the past was viewed through contemporary accounts.

I do this mostly through the use of my collection of annual baseball preview magazines or other resources available online. So, whether it's looking back to see if Jim Rice was truly "feared"by the people who saw him play, or it's looking back to see how Greg Maddux was viewed early in his career, or if it's just looking back to see what people predicted baseball would be like in the year 2000 (from 1981), you'll find it here.
